Story Mode
A New Adventure Awaits!
In the text-based Story Mode, the player is able to progress through bite-sized portions of the story of Lumora in an interactive fashion. Of course, our final game is not going to be text-based, but the rich story of Lumora can still be experienced while the world map itself is being developed. The only thing separating each dialog sequence is space traversed in a 3D world, so we are just cutting out space from the equation and replacing it with imagination, temporarily.
The Story Mode is prefaced with a chapter selection screen, for ease of access in development and for the player to resume up to the chapter they left off at. Right now, all chapters are unlocked from the beginning, but this can be easily changed to have a new player have to play the game from the beginning to unlock new chapters. This helps for allowing the player to take different branching paths to see where they lead.
The player can advance the story by clicking a blank space or pressing spacebar / enter. The speed of text presented can be changed to either slow, medium or fast depending on the preference of the player, and the place in the story can be saved at any point from the pause menu, to be resumed later.
A Picture Speaks a Thousand Words
Throughout the Story Mode, you will see beautiful chapter images helping to set the scene and give the player's imagination something to catch on to.

There is also music to go along with every part of the story. Below you can see the entire collection of 25 character portraits that help to bring the story to life!

Quest-ion
Then there are the quests, of which there are many to come. In the next installment of the Lumora Demo, in addition to adding Combat Mode to the various scenes, there will be the beginning of quests that can be accepted by the player to take on for each faction. The quests you will be able to take will depend on which faction you align yourself with.
In addition to the side quests, there are the Main Quests, which have to do with first infusing the Keystone so that it can be used as a compass to find the others, then locating the other Lodestones before other Chosen can discover them, taking the Lodestones you find and getting each infused at its corresponding Shrine, and Obtaining all of the infused Lodestones, then bringing them to the Final Shrine to either open or close the Rift and choose the fate of Lumora.
Following the Main Quests, there will be additional Post-Game content to explore, including possible DLC content. There are many ways to approach the Story of Lumora, lending itself to rich narrative-driven story choices in which the player will see very different sides of Lumora in every playthrough.
